QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

A few things you might be wondering

It's natural to have questions before reaching out. Here are honest answers to the ones that come up most often about how sessions work, what's covered, and the care you can expect. Take your time.

Counselling Scope

Understanding what counselling here can and can't hold helps you find the right support, whether that's with me or alongside other care.

  • Concerns requiring specialized psychiatric care, crisis intervention, detox support, or medical diagnosis are outside my scope.

  • No. Please contact crisis services, your local hospital, or 911 for emergencies.

  • Each service is distinct, with its own booking and structure. They may complement each other, but are not combined in a single session.

  • No. I do not diagnose or provide documentation for disability, legal, or insurance purposes.

  • Yes. Counselling is confidential within the limits of professional and legal guidelines. These guidelines will be reviewed in your first session, so you understand how your information is protected.

Logistics & practical information

A little clarity about who I work with and how sessions are shaped, so you know what to expect before we begin.

  • I work primarily with adults (18+) who are navigating stress, trauma, chronic pain, nervous system dysregulation, identity shifts, and life transitions. At this time, I'm not able to offer counselling to children, professional athletes, or to anyone residing outside the province, due to professional regulations, licensing requirements, and insurance guidelines.

  • Adults must book their own sessions, to ensure consent and readiness. You're welcome to share my information with your loved one so they can reach out when they feel ready. For teens, a parent or caregiver may initiate contact, but the young person must willingly participate.

  • Generally, no. To maintain clear boundaries and confidentiality, I do not see close family members or partners individually. I can support you with referrals if your loved one is seeking their own counsellor.

  • Yes. Many clients come in with no prior experience. Sessions are adapted to your comfort level.

  • Absolutely. You guide the focus, and your goals shape our work.

  • Session frequency varies. Many people attend weekly or biweekly, while others prefer flexible or as-needed sessions. We choose a rhythm that aligns with your goals, capacity, and schedule.

Booking

Everything you need to know about consults, sessions, and making changes when life happens.

  • Online sessions are held through a secure, encrypted telehealth platform. You'll receive a link before your session — simply click to join from any private, stable internet connection. Many clients find virtual counselling comfortable, flexible, and accessible.

  • This means my schedule is currently full. You may add yourself to the waitlist through the booking system, and I will contact you when an opening becomes available.

  • A consultation is a brief 20-minute meeting designed to explore your goals, ask questions, and determine whether we're the right fit. No counselling or therapeutic work happens during a consult. A session is a full 50-minute appointment where we begin therapeutic support, explore your concerns, and develop a plan for your healing.

  • You can book both consultations and counselling sessions through my online booking platform. Once you choose your service, you'll be able to select the time that works best for you.

  • To reschedule a consult or counselling session, log into your client profile, where you can view my availability and choose a new time. All changes and cancellations require 24 hours' notice to avoid the session fee. If you need support with a late cancellation or change, please reach out through the contact form or email me.

  • If you're feeling unwell, you may switch your in-person session to a virtual session, or reschedule. You can make changes directly through your online profile, or contact me if you're unsure what to do.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions (up to 80 minutes) are available.

Fees & benefits

Honest, upfront information about fees, payment, and how counselling may be reimbursed through your benefits.

  • Caspera Wellness does not offer direct billing at this time. However, many extended health benefit plans in British Columbia reimburse counselling services provided by professionals with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology who are practising under appropriate supervision. Clients are encouraged to check their individual coverage to confirm eligibility. A detailed receipt is provided after each session that you may submit for reimbursement.

  • I accept credit cards and e-transfers. Payment is processed after each appointment, and a detailed receipt is emailed automatically.

  • My fees vary depending on the service. Counselling and therapeutic yoga are billed per session, and a detailed receipt is provided after each appointment. You can contact me or visit my booking page for current rates.

  • Many extended health plans in British Columbia reimburse counselling provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC). Coverage varies between plans, so please check your benefits for details.

  • Yes for CVAP. I'm able to bill the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) directly, so approved clients don't pay out of pocket for covered sessions. For ICBC, FNHA, and VAC, direct billing isn't available at this time. You're still welcome to attend counselling, with session fees paid out-of-pocket unless reimbursement is available through your plan.

  • Yes. You may pay for someone else's appointment; however, the client's confidentiality is always protected, regardless of who pays. The client must also consent to participate and schedule sessions themselves.

Inclusion & accessibility

Care here is meant to feel safe and welcoming for who you are. A few notes on how that shows up in practice.

  • Yes. I work from a culturally responsive, continuously learning perspective.
